PS CAFE
30th May 2009PS. Cafe28B Harding Road(near Dempsey Road)SingaporeTel: 64793343Weekend : 9.30am - 5pm brunchWeekday: 11.30am - 5pm Lunch and 6.30pm - 12pm Dinner
Dempsey enclave of thriving hub of eateries not only offers such haven for food but makes a very good quick getaway and retreat within Singapore being just minutes away from Singapore Botanical Garden. The lush greeneries and the quaint place which houses restaurants restored from the former army barracks provide one with a feeling of serenity, out-of-Singapore feeling and a very lively place to hang out with frens and families. PS. Cafe, another chic place situated in the woods, off the beaten path, as you have to walk through the long narrow planks to the cafe, is another discovery in Dempsey. With timber flooring, high ceilings and full glass panels which fronts the lush greeneries, and zinc ceilings in sight, the interior decor is reminscent of a Australian laidback cafe as the walls are awashed in white. The place is elegant, hip and trendy yet simplistic and definitely to me it's a fashion statement and expression of the owners as well.
The co-owners of PS. Cafe are Philip Chin and Peter Teo who are fashion designers and they have fused fashion with food, being foodies themselves. Both owned a chain of 6 outlets of street wears Project Shop Blood Brothers apparels in Singapore since 1989, with chains in Malaysia and Indonesia as well. PS. Cafe too has grown to three, at Paragon and Palais and growth seems to be on their cards.PS. Cafe at Dempsey attracts many expatriates to this secluded place off Harding Road and is often packed with diners. It has spun off as an inhouse cafe within their apparel shop and is now a successful chain which offers Australian inspired cuisine. Sydney daily newspaper are seen hanging at the counter and offers to keep the Australian close to home.Food is good and delectable. Even the muesli is served in a big bowl with lots of yoghout topped with berries and it looks so scrumptious and healthy for breakfast and I think that will be my next order in the next opportune visit. Overall very very relaxing place surrounded with lush greeneries and fresh air that you can dream of Alice in Wonderland in the woods. Perfect weekend breakfast at an idyllic place but spoiled by the very expensive bill.....
